With the Prime Minister coming to town the Mayor of Kamloops is hoping for some face time.
Justin Trudeau is holding two events in Kamloops on Wednesday and staying overnight but Ken Christian says his office hasn’t heard a peep from the Prime Minister’s people about any potential meeting.
Christian says if they do get to chat he some issues he would like to raise.
“It would be the same issues that we have raised with there infrastructure minister in the past that local governments, included Kamloops, need help with municipal infrastructure. It is dated, it is aging, it is failing and those costs are exorbitant in terms of being taxpayer funded at the local level. We would welcome support from the federal government.”
Christian was asked if he has some specific infrastructure projects in mind?
“Well we have a number of storm sewer projects. We have a big project coming this summer down West Victoria street. We have the continuation of the Tranquille storm and sanitary sewer main. We have some initiatives related to bridges and that kind of thing that we would want to put before them.”
The Prime Minister will take part in Liberal Party fundraising luncheon on Wednesday and then take questions at a town hall at TRU that evening.
Justin Trudeau will also be on Radio NL’s afternoon Newsday show with host Brett Mineer on Wednesday as well.
