A major non-market housing project for employees at Sun Peaks Resort is nearly done.
Marketing director Aidan Kelly says the $4-million-dollar project will be done in less than two weeks and provide 82 beds.
“We’re targeting now January 21st as when we’ll be moving the first wave of staff in, and then about a week later we’ll get another group of staff,” Kelly says.
“Everything’s on track, going along well. It’s going to be a great addition to have some of that housing in our resort because it’s an important thing for us moving forward and our business for sure.
“That’ll all be going to staff, primarily seasonal staff, but there’ll be a few year-round folsk I think that’ll take up residence in that building as well.”
Kelly says a group of staff moving into that housing have been living in Kamloops and bussing to Sun Peaks each day, arranged by the resort.
He adds the resort has arranged some “creative solutions” in-resort for staff accommodation.
