Three bridges in Cherry Creek wiped out by flooding last year will soon have permanent fixes.
Permanent bridges at Greenstone Road, Beaton Road and Rodeo Drive will be finished within the next three months.
Area director Ronaye Elliott says she was told the work will cost several million dollars.
“The one at Greenstone is $1.2 million. The one at Rodeo is in the engineer’s hands at this point. They thought it would be about the same. The one at Beaton Road will be a little different, the engineer hasn’t started with that one yet so they don’t have a cost.”
Elliott points out those bridges have been damaged by high streamflows in two straight years.
She says provincial staff shared the news at a public meeting in Tobiano.
“The Ministry of Transportation and Ministry of Forests had showed them the drawings of the engineering part of the bridges. So that when the next flood comes, supposedly, they don’t go down the creek.”
