The mayor of Sun Peaks says he thinks a construction boom in the village will continue in 2019.
The value of building permits issued in the community of barely 600 residents was more than $32 million dollars last year.
Al Raine says residential construction has largely driven that total and he doesn’t see the pace of building slowing off.
“Definitely at this point it certainly would appear that it’s going to continue. Certainly our expectation is that it’s going to be very much close to this year’s value for the coming year.”
Raine adds that construction in Sun Peaks gives a lot of business to builders in Kamloops.
“There is a very close relationship between the construction industry in Kamloops and what’s going on in Sun Peaks.”
He also says the value of those building permits should have a total investment value of at least $75 to $80 million dollars for Sun Peaks.
