Two more applications for cannabis stores will be before Kamloops council later this month.
The applications are both for private stores located at 240 Lansdowne Street and 279 Tranquille Road.
Development services director Marvin Kwiatkowski points out those are the eighth and ninth cannabis store applications the city has processed.
“I think we’re probably leading the pack as far as number of applications. I mean we expected, last year when we talked, we probably have close to what we had operating (illegally) at one point in time, so we thought a dozen. But we threw out there, and the mayor mentioned it before that we could have 15 to 20 stores in time.”
Kwiatkowski adds the four private applications that have already come through council are still awaiting licenses from the province.
Council will be asked to support the two newest applications on Jan. 29.
