Various industry judges and school officials, as well as friends and family, will get a chance to check out video games created by students at the DigiPen Tech Academy.
26 students have spent the last five months learning how to program, design and build video games.
Andres Rubarges, a teacher at the DigiPen Tech Academy says there’s a wide variety of projects on display this year.
“Some of these games, you’re the hero, and in others, you’re the bad guy,” he said. “It’s a variety of 2D and 3D games.”
“For the first time this year, one of the games is actually going to be a virtual reality experience. In that particular game, you get to wear the VR Headset and experience the role of an archer, as you defend your tower from lethal tumbleweeds.”
Students focused on their areas of expertise while working in groups of three or four over the last month to create these video games.
“So every group is going to have a lead artist, a lead programmer, a lead designer and potentially a project manager as well,” Rubarges added.
As for how the evening will go, he notes every group will have an opportunity to present on stage in front of about 100 people.
” Following those presentations, the audience is going to be able to tour the library and try out some of these games,” said Rubarges.
It all gets underway at 7:00 PM, at Sa-Hali Secondary School.
