A Shuswap man admitted responsibility today for the death of a motorcyclist in April of 2016 near Magna Bay.
In Kamloops Court, 59-year-old Raymond Swann, from Sorrento, pleaded guilty to criminal negligence causing death in the killing of Kamloops man Brian Watson.
Swann though is seeking to be held not criminally responsible for Watson’s death due to a mental disorder.
His defence lawyer Ken Walker told the courtroom today that Swann was suffering from psychosis and had no memory of the fatal collision.
Watson was 60 years old when he was killed in the accident, where Swan drove into the back of his motorcycle and ran him off the road before fleeing the scene. Watson worked as a painter in the Kamloops School District.
Swann’s trial is expected to conclude on Friday.
