Thompson Rivers University says it cleanup from flooding in one of its buildings will take up to a month longer.
The first floor of the school’s Open Learning building has been closed due to a water main break since Jan. 11.
Darshan Lindsay says that closure will last another three to weeks.
“Access at this time to the first floor remains restricted, and that is due to ongoing restoration work that is taking place. That has involved removal of flooring, of furniture and any drywall that would’ve been exposed to water at the time of the incident,” Lindsay says.
“We have one department that was directly affected and that was our IT services. They have been relocated in a temporary area. The server room which is also located on the first floor thankfully did not sustain any damage.”
Floors two through four of the Open Learning Building re-opened on Jan. 14 after being closed for the afternoon of Jan. 11, and Lindsay says otherwise it is business as usual in that building.
She says the school doesn’t have an estimate yet at for what the repair cost might be.
