A major renovation at Hotel 540 in Kamloops is halfway done with little to no surprises.
The hotel on Victoria Street has been closed since November and manager Bryan Pilbeam says it is still on track to re-open in April.
“Things are progressing, it’s certainly a big project and we are halfway through it now. So the demo’s done and now it’s about the rebuild. So everything that’s redone, new infrastructure put in place, all the technological upgrades are being looked at and put into and completed now. And now it’s the build back,” Pilbeam says.
“I think people will be shocked and really pleased with the new changes there. Everything from the entry from our traditional entrance through the porte-cochere, by a new front desk and a new lobby bar. Pretty drastic change, all for the good for the hotel.”
The hotel is being re-branded into a Delta Hotel under the Marriott brand. Pilbeam says the project’s cost will be between $8 and $9 million.
