While the leader of the BC Greens is outraged by the outlandish spending allegations in the Plecas Report he is absolutely gobsmacked by another revelation.
Andrew Weaver says while he is outraged by the spending in the Plecas Report there is other allegations in there that has him even more alarmed.
“The 39 documented day trips that the Clerk took of which an overwhelming number were to BC Liberals offices to meet former Speaker Bill Barisoff, meet former Premier Christy Clark, Mike de Jong, and Geoff Plant former Attorney General. These are clearly people with relationships to the BC Liberals what on earth is the Clerk doing?”
Weaver says the office is supposed to be non-partisan but charging taxpayers to see a number of former liberal MLAs reeks of anything but.
“The independence of that office why was he hired? How independent was that office? What are the relationships between that office and the BC Liberals as alleged in that report. This to me needs to be gotten to the bottom of. Frankly I think British Columbians deserve answers in a timely fashion. No more spin from Mary Polak. No more trying to blame Darryl Plecas for this mess. No more spin from Andrew Wilkinson.”
He says the meetings are scandalous.
“I would like to know how many times he visited the BC Green offices well I can tell you, zero. BC Green offices and BC Green constituencies, zero.”
The Plecas Report alleges James was very close to the Liberals and met with former Attorney General Geoff Plant to try and reign in Sergeant at Arms Gary Lenz and his concerns about expenses.
It also alleges James bragged he had so much dirt on the Liberals he could shut down any probe into expenses.
