The rebuild is still ongoing for many B.C. communities devastated by wildfires in 2017 and 2018.
In the TNRD, that is no different, with the Loon Lake Fire Hall rebuild one of the bigger projects.
Michelle Nordstrom is with the TNRD, and says the fire service area in Loon Lake was recently transferred to them on January 1.
“We also have several other fire service areas that we have acquired as administration,” she said. “There will be some further work going into possibly infrastructure for those service areas.”
“They may be needing infrastructure or equipment.”
Nordstrom adds that the recent $275,000 donation from Fraserway RV covers more than half of what they need to rebuild the Loon Lake hall, in a different location.
“The transfer of ownership from some of the society run department has been a very big acquisition for us this year,” she added.
“So we’ll be doing a lot of work in getting those setup, and getting those communities ready for the next fire season.”
