Tonight is the night parents can give their feedback about whether or not to re-open Westsyde Elementary directly to the Kamloops Thompson School Board.
Board Chair Kathleen Karpuk says tonight at 7:00 PM at David Thompson Elementary the board will table the finances behind re-opening Westsyde, the portables situation, as well as catchment area issues.
Then parents will have their say.
“We’ll be moving to having two schools where we’ve got a little bit more management,” she said. “We’ve got more space for those using the gym, better washroom space that type of thing is an advantage.”
Karpuk says if parents can’t attend in person tonight they can still share their two cents online.
“They can email us, there will an email link on our homepage that people can submit comments to,” she added. “I believe at this moment we’re looking at making a decision at our March board meeting.”
Karpuk says re-opening Westsyde might create some space to deal with overcrowding and get kids out of portables.
