The incumbent Conservative member of parliament for the Kamloops Thompson Cariboo is reacting to the news a former MLA and cabinet minister Terry Lake may run against her.
While Lake has not made a final decision yet Cathy McLeod says she would welcome him or anyone else to the race in this fall’s federal election.
“I think first of all I welcome hearing who is going to enter the race whether it is Liberals, NDP, or Greens in terms of officially getting their names in and making that decision. Certainly in terms of the Liberal Party the biggest baggage of all will be the baggage of the current government’s record.”
McLeod says people in the Kamloops Thompson Cariboo will have to vote based what they thin of the Trudeau government’s record on finances and everything else.
“What is going to happen in the Kamloops Thompson Cariboo is people are going to have to decide what they think of that record. Certainly people in rural communities issues around things like guns, and back door registeries, and hand gun bans those things resonate with them and they do not resonate in a positive way because they just feel targeted.”
She says she will be running on her track record and the vision her party will table.
