The worst of the norovirus outbreak in Kamloops appears to be behind us.
Speaking on the NL Morning News today, Interior Health Spokesperson Susan Duncan said the outbreak at Hillside Psychiatric Centre has been cleared.
“The other four wards in the hospital, they are all in the last 48 hours of watching to see if there are any new cases,” Duncan said. “They should be considered all cleared by today, tomorrow and Wednesday it will all be over, we hope.”
Duncan added that no surgeries have been cancelled today, and the 20 that had to be cancelled last week will be rescheduled.
“We really apologize to those people who were inconvenienced,” added Duncan. “But we needed to make sure that had beds if they were emergency admissions.”
In all, Duncan says at the last update, 61 people (34 patients and 27 staff) were affected by the outbreak at the hospital and Hillside Psychiatric Centre.
