In the aftermath of the decision by the province to scrap the downtown Kamloops BC Lottery Corporation headquarters replacement project the two city MLAs want to go on a fact finding mission.
Todd Stone and Peter Milobar have written Attorney General Dave Eby asking permission to tour the downtown Kamloops BCLC headquarters as well as the lottery’s office building in Vancouver.
“Since the decision was made we continue to hear from a number of BCLC employees who are quite frustrated and are not buying what the NDP are selling on this. Peter and I as the elected representatives of Kamloops and area we want to see the office space in the two respective cities without own eyes and make sure that we best understand the nature of the current operations at BCLC as well as the future plans.”
Stone says the reason for the tour is to do some fact finding to ensure all new BCLC hires will be in Kamloops not in the Vancouver offices.
“He has very recently stated that, that building is full and that is part of the reason why they will continue to look to hire people in the Kamloops office. We have heard however from a number of folks who are pretty close to this file who have said to us that is not true there is lots of empty space in the building in Vancouver.”
He says with fears of BCLC employees leaking from Kamloops to Vancouver he says it is important to understand the full picture.
So far Eby has not responded.
