The Mayor of Lytton says they’ve got similar issues to many of the other smaller communities in the region.
Jan Polderman was speaking on the NL Morning News and believes overall, they are in pretty good shape.
“You know, we’re in need of housing,” he said. “We need to replace a fire hall and a fire engine. It’s sort of bread and butter issues I think that most communities have to deal with.”
Right now he says they’re working on their year-end audit so they can send their financial statements to the provincial government.
Looking ahead to the summer, he’s hoping more people take the Trans Canada when heading to the Lower Mainland, instead of the Coquihalla.
He says they do see traffic in that community especially on the weekend.
“People travelling the canyon, it’s a beautiful drive,” Polderman added. “And since there isn’t nearly as much traffic on it, I would say it’s a pretty relaxing trip.”
Another more pressing issue in Lytton is the upcoming byelection on March 2.
