The Conservative Kamloops MP says the resignation of Jody Wilson-Raybould from the Prime Minister’s cabinet is telling.
In announcing her resignation, Wilson-Raybould also announced she’s hired a former Supreme Court Justice to advise her on what she legally can or can’t say publicly.
Cathy McLeod says there’s going on that clearly isn’t right in Trudeau’s office.
“If you look at the evolving message from the Prime Minister and the messages Jody Wilson-Raybould is able to give, I have huge concerns. And we need to be able to get to the bottom of this.”
McLeod says it is clear that Trudeau’s office had a desired outcome with S-N-C Lavalin avoiding prosecution on criminal allegations.
“When we start to have a government that’s interfering with the judicial system, that is a fundamental breach of our democracy.”
A motion from NDP and Conservative MPs will go forward tomorrow asking senior government officials to testify, including Wilson-Raybould.
The Liberals could block that motion, but McLeod says if they do it would show a lack of transparency from the Trudeau government.
