A Kamloops man had a close call yesterday when he was struck by a car while crossing highway 97 near Peachland.
RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey says the man parked his car on the shoulder of the highway before crossing it to get to a strip mall on the other side.
“The pedestrian crossed at an uncontrolled portion of the highway, and reportedly emerged from between stationery vehicles when he was struck by the Toyota, which had been moving forward in the right-hand turn lane at the time. The pedestrian is a 59-year-old Kamloops man, he had been transported by ambulance to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.”
O’Donaghey says the man was later released from hospital.
He says the driver of the Toyota, a 60-year-old woman from Peachland, was badly shaken but remained at the scene and was cooperative with police.
