A pair of Kamloops City Councillors are pleased with the turnout at recent open houses, as they work on the budget and other issues.
There were two meetings last week, which saw people young and old turnout in sub-zero temperatures.
Councillor Sadie Hunter was speaking on the NL Morning News today.
“A public forum on residential suites, I think there was probably over 100 people who came out,” she said. “Great to see that the public engaged on those issues, and I know they’ve had, last time I checked, over 600 people provide their feedback online on the Let’s Talk Kamloops page for residential suites.”
Hunter says a public meeting on the supplemental budget last week saw an equally good turnout.
Councillor Kathy Sinclair echoed similar sentiments.
“I talked to seniors about active transportation and safe sidewalks and I talked to young people about those issues as well,” she said. “Definitely seeing some common themes among the age demographics.”
“I think it’s healthy to have a full range – you want to have everybody’s perspective.”
There’s another open house next week Thursday to discuss the downtown master plan.
