A couple of days ahead of the Family Day weekend, there’s more snow on the way for the Coquihalla.
Environment Canada is calling for between 10 to 15 centimetres, starting Thursday evening.
“So we’re expecting it mostly on Thursday and Friday, and then it does stay unsettled on Saturday, so a few flurries on Saturday as well,” said Meteorologist Carmen Hartt. “I don’t think snowfall rates are going to be too bad at any point, it’s just mostly continuous snow for those days.”
Most of that snow, Hartt says will be at the Coquihalla Summit.
“Looks like mainly tomorrow afternoon, we’ll see a few flurries beginning and moderate snow overnight Thursday into Friday,” added Hartt.
“After Saturday, we’re expecting high pressure to build in, so beginning on Saturday and continuing on Sunday, the weather should be much clearer for travel.”
Hartt is recommending that anyone with travel plans ahead and into the long weekend check the forecast as they’ll have a better idea about the conditions.
The latest readings show 135 cm of snow on the ground at the Coquihalla Summit this winter.
