Ticketholders for Buddy – The Buddy Holly Story are still in luck despite the sudden closure of Sagebrush theatre.
Western Canada Theatre Artistic Director James MacDonald says they have managed to move the show to the Coast Kamloops Conference Centre’s Theatre.
“The beautiful theatre up there. We’re really fortunate to be able to slide right over there,” he said. “The dates don’t exactly match up, so there will have to be some juggling when it comes to people’s tickets.”
“The Kamloops Live! Box Office is on top of that in terms of getting in touch with ticket holders. It’s also a smaller venue, so we’re very close to being sold out already, with the people who’ve already bought tickets, but there will still be some tickets available.”
MacDonald says some ticketholders will just transfer over with the show on the same night others will have more of an issue.
He says Western Canada Theatre is trying to figure out what all this means as far as potential financial impacts.
“We were anticipating getting pretty close to a sellout for Buddy Holly in the 700 seats, he added. “With a smaller venue, and a couple of reduced performances, we may face that, but we’re looking into the possibilities now.”
“There are insurance ramifications, there’s just a couple of other things that we have to figure out. In the short term, it’s not great for us in any way.”
