The mayor of Kamloops says it’s not clear yet if Air Canada changes at YKA will be convenient for travellers.
The company announced it will be flying Bombardier Q-400 planes between Kamloops and Vancouver this summer which will boost capacity by 25 per cent.
But Ken Christian points out Air Canada will be flying four planes instead of five.
“It’s early-going right now, we’ve just found out about the increased capacity which is good news, especially for Sun Peaks and for the upcoming golf season. But what I need to know is that for the business traveller, is this going to be convenient? Particularly connecting into eastern Canada, and is it going to be convenient to get down to Vancouver and back in one day?”
Christian says YKA will need to look at carriers who could fill in the gap in scheduling.
