Movie Mart isn’t the only business recently targetted by robbers that then found itself a target of WorkSafeBC officers.
According to two inspection reports obtained by NL News, the regulator slapped a total of 11 orders on a numbered B.C. company – doing business as Whispers Adult Superstore.
WorkSafeBC officers visited Whispers twice on January 22nd – writing two reports.
The first contained two orders pertaining to bullying and harassment, saying the employer hadn’t taken reasonable steps to prevent or minimize workplace bullying and harassment.
The second order says Whispers didn’t have policies and procedures to prevent bullying and harassment.
The second inspection, on the same day, resulted in another nine orders being issued, covering things like a lack of health and safety committee meetings, or policies and procedures, and no first aid kit.
One order noted that the officer considered a partial stop-work order due to the potential presence of asbestos in the basement. A stop-work order wasn’t issued because it was determined employees have no reason to go down to the basement.
Another order pertaining to Whisper’s responsibility to protect employees from violence contained a blacked out paragraph under a section of the Freedom of Information Act that allows for the censoring of information that could compromise a police investigation.
