
Update – Feb 16, 11:00 am – A spokesperson with Interior Health says the restricted access at Royal Inland Hospital was lifted around 1:30 AM.
“Services continued throughout the whole time, but there was enhanced security on site,” said spokesperson Karl Hardt. “[There was] no direct threat to hospital at all.”
“We appreciate people’s patience and understanding throughout the incident.”
Update – 7:30 pm – Kamloops RCMP confirm that a man and a woman were shot in the 1900 block of Tranquille Road in a “targeted” attack.
“Police are currently in the evidence-gathering phase,” police say in a news release. “No further information will be provided at this time.
“Currently, we have numerous police resources, both uniform and plain clothes officers investigating this incident. We are asking the public to remain vigilant and mindful of any suspicious activity they may see in the community and report it to police.”

Update – 5:57 pm – BC Emergency Health Services confirms there has been a shooting on the Kamloops North Shore.
BCEHS Spokesperson Shannon Miller says two patients were rushed from the scene one of them is in critical condition the other in serious condition.
Update -5:45 pm – Interior Health via Twitter has just said the Royal Inland Emergency Room is under “restricted access.”
The Health Authority says this is due to the police situation unfolding this evening.

A heavy police presence has converged on the North Shore, in the area of Tranquille Road and Southill Street.
We have no official word on what may have happened, but photos from the scene show a heavy police presence.
A caller to our newsroom says all of Tranquille Road is blocked off by police.
We’ve reached out to Kamloops RCMP and are awaiting official word and more detail.
