It is budget day in Victoria and the mayor of Kamloops has a list of local funding needs he will be looking for.
Ken Christian says the city has a number of asks from the province especially on the infrastructure side with money needs for everything from Stuart Wood to the new performing arts centre proposal.
And then there is money needed for railway overpasses in the city but that’s not all.
“We have a number of other smaller projects on the list,” said Christian. “I will be interested to hear what the government says.”
“I am very curious about our share of the cannabis revenue. That needs to be sorted out. We are looking at that. I also want to hear about the gaming fund split because it is my understanding they intend to include First Nations in that. I want to know how that might affect the municipality as well.”
The municipalities have been negotiating a revenue-sharing split with the province over cannabis tax revenues.
There are reports a final deal may be announced today.
