The leader of the BC Liberals is calling foul on the numbers the province is using in this week’s budget where it concerns the ICBC dumpster fire.
Despite ICBC missing its fiscal projections by about half a billion dollars, the budget has a mere $50-million loss for the next fiscal year before turning the ship around.
Andrew Wilkinson says that doesn’t pass the smell test.
“It sounds like they are playing games with the numbers,” he said. “I mean David Eby maintains he can tell the courts what to do and he can tell the lawyers what to do. Both of them are pushing back.”
“There was a Supreme Court judgment on January 23rd saying that they are not buying it in terms of what ICBC is telling them what to do. So David Eby is going to have to redo his numbers. But I do not suspect he will be revising anything towards the truth. We have seen massive revisions of their numbers in recent years.”
Wilkinson says it is time to come up with a better option for auto insurance for British Columbians.
