With a $550-million boost in school capital infrastructure funding in last week’s provincial budget, B.C.’s Education minister says they are very close to a decision on Kamloops number one ask.
Rob Fleming says they are nearing the end of the process in deciding either to replace Valleyview Secondary or build a significant expansion.
“With Kamloops, we’re very pleased with where we are with regards to their number one priority, Valleyview Secondary,” said Fleming. “We’re so close to completing the business case and signing off on that.”
“Certainly, as Minister of Education, I’m very interested in helping that school get to a much more normal sense of its capacity and it needs expansion. And we’re close.”
Fleming credits the school district for doing an excellent job in championing its capital needs adding it is very clear why the Valleyview project needs to be supported.
He says once Valleyview is dealt with then the ministry will turn its attention to the district’s new number one capital priority.
