Sun Peaks will host their first-ever Pride Weekend, March 1 to 3
It’s called Peak Pride, and it’ll begin with a comedy night tonight, March 1.
Tourism Sun Peaks spokesperson Rachel Roberts says the event will continue all weekend.
“It includes events like the Pride Mountain parade that starts up at the Sunburst on Saturday afternoon,” she said.
“There will be Après parties, more comedy nights, drag queens, brunches, DJs straight through till about Sunday at mid-day.”
She notes there was growing interest and desire in the community to create a pride event for the resort for both residents and visitors.
“As this conversation was happening, a local resident with a connection to Dustyn Baulkham, who started Peak Pride in Big White, introduced Dustyn to the resort and a decision was made to partner with a third party event that had an established brand and following,” Roberts added.
The event has been held at Big White Ski Resort near Kelowna for the last two years, ahead of the expansion to Sun Peaks this year.
