Police in Kamloops say a suspect in a fatal shooting last month has been arrested at a home on the Tk’emlups First Nation.
Mounties had informed media of an incident in the area of Cree Drive earlier today, and now say 36-year-old Gordie Wayne Braaten has been taken into custody without incident.
Braaten was one of two men charged with murder and attempted murder in connection to a double shooting at a home in Brock on Feb. 15th, which left Jason Glover dead and injured a female.
Glover’s death was the third homicide in Kamloops this year.
The other man charged in relation to the double shooting, 51-year-old Hugh Alexander McIntosh, was arrested without incident in Langley last week.
“Investigation led Kamloops RCMP to Braaten’s location on Cree Drive earlier today. Braaten was believed to be armed and dangerous so the Southeast District Emergency Team was called in to assist,” Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says.
At this point, police have no other suspects in mind for Glover’s murder.
“There’s many man hours of putting together our court brief and disclosure for BC Prosecution Service but then yes, being able to capture these two people lends itself to us being able to focus now on previous events and other suspects that we are looking to arrest,” Shekie added.
Access might be limited on Cree Drive for a while as police are still investigating the area.
