Two stores in Kamloops were robbed last night and police made an arrest in one of those cases.
Police say the first robbery was at the 7-Eleven on Summit Drive, which has now been robbed three times in the past months.
Corporal Jodi Shelkie says the suspect had a knife and demanded money from the register.
“Through investigation, the suspect was identified within a few hours and we located him at a residence nearby and he was arrested without incident. The suspect is a 16-year-old male from Kamloops,” she says.
“At this time, there is no evidence linking this suspect to the previous two robberies at this store or to the robberies that have occurred in downtown Kamloops in recent months.”
Shelkie says a second robbery happened about two hours later, at 8:15 p.m., at the Dr. Love/ Hemp City store on Victoria Street downtown. A suspect with his face covered made off with money from the till, and police are still searching for a suspect in that case.
“As there has been a number of robberies in the downtown core in recent months, Kamloops RCMP advises store owners and managers to review security protocol with their employees and asks everyone to report any suspicious activity they see,” Shelkie says.
