Winter hasn’t lost its grip yet in the Kamloops area, with snow expected tonight and some warnings in place for area highways.
Environment Canada forecaster Bobby Sehkon says Kamloops can expect to see about 4 centimetres of snow by tomorrow morning which should begin late tonight.
“As we move along in the spring season, we still see these storms come through. We’re not out of the way yet for snowfall.”
A snowfall warning is in place on the Trans-Canada from Eagle to Rogers Pass, where Sehkon says 15-20 centimetres should fall tonight. No warning on the Coquihalla, but Sehkon says that highway will see nearly half a foot of snow between late tonight and tomorrow afternoon.
Past tomorrow, Sehkon temperatures will make this recent cold snap feel like a distant memory.
“Temperatures will be getting warmer and we’ll see drier weather as we head into the weekend. And we’ll see temperatures actually come up above average even as we get into this weekend in many places.”
Forecasts call for daytime highs of 13 and 14 degrees in Kamloops for Saturday and Sunday, respectively, which will be about three-to-four degrees above normal.
