The Chair of the Kamloops School Board admits the district will not be able to make every parent happy when Westsyde Elementary re-opens this fall.
Kathleen Karpuk says parents of grade six students at David Thompson Elementary are raising very valid concerns about the splitting up of students and friends being separated.
Karpuk says parents will be able to apply to keep current grade six students at David Thompson.
“That will be happening towards the end of the school year. I am sure that the principal will let parents know when they are ready to start looking at that.”
Will every parents request be accommodated?
“I don’t know about that. That is something that is going to be handled at the school level.”
With the re-opening of Westsyde Elementary catchment changes have been made to funnel current students over to the re-opened school.
