The two Kamloops MLAs will soon see for themselves whether there is a risk BC Lottery Corporation staff will leak away to the lower mainland.
Kamloops South MLA Todd Stone says he and fellow MLA Peter Milobar have had their request approved by the Attorney General to tour both the BCLC Kamloops headquarters and its Vancouver offices.
“We just want to see with our own eyes what actually is the truth in so far as the compliment of staffing in these two buildings. We keep hearing with the Vancouver office it is full and bursting at the seams and then we hear the next day from a different official no it is half empty. Then we hear from somebody else well it is actually full but not entirely with BCLC people. We want to get the story straight here.”
Stone says his concern is with the scrapping of the downtown Kamloops BCLC headquarter replacement project hundreds of jobs that would have come with the upgrade will leak away to the coast.
He says people in the city are still unhappy with the decision and what it means in lost economic activity and need to “put down marker” telling the province in no uncertain terms Kamloops will not be pushed around.
