The Kamloops Thompson School District isn’t just dealing with a spacing crunch in its schools within the city it also has a growing problem up at Sun Peaks.
School Board Chair Kathleen Karpuk says Sun Peaks is facing a familiar problem in that it is growing in leaps and bounds.
Karpuk says the growth is being felt at Sun Peaks Elementary.
“In Sun Peaks we have a challenge in that we are currently outgrowing the site where the portables are at right now. They need another portable. So we have a challenge on where do we put it? We are scheduled to go up in May and have a conversation with Council up there to try and find a short and long term solution to their challenges with their school up there.”
She says chief among the issues needing addressing is assessing the school site to see if it is capable of expansion.
