Kamloops Fire and Rescue crews are battling a grass fire near Tranquille on the Lake.
Platoon Captain Mike Haines says a number of resources are being used to battle the flames.
“Three bush trucks and two tenders are out there right now with 12 of our Kamloops Fire and Rescue personnel and we have ten B.C. Forest Service personnel assisting. The fire is four to five acres in size. It is located near Tranquille road near Padova City. Mostly sagebrush involved. Crews figure they are going to have it knocked down within the hour and we’ll likely have a couple members stay out there until sundown.”
Haines says they have no idea how the fire started yet, and he says they have a guard on the fire with firefighters working on hot spots.
He adds people often forget when the snow melts, underneath is tinder dry grass.
