
The Conservative MP for the Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo riding says there is one local item she’ll be watching closely in the federal budget.
Cathy McLeod says she has repeatedly asked for more financial support to help with wildfire recovery and prevention in B.C.
“I will be watching to see if they are acknowledging in any way the significant challenges in British Columbia due to natural disasters. That’s one thing that I have submitted, I’ve submitted some ideas and certainly will be watching for that,” McLeod said while speaking on the Woodford Show.
The past two wildfire seasons have successively been the worst on record in B.C., with more than 2.5 million hectares burned collectively.
The Trudeau government will be unveiling the 2019 budget this afternoon from Ottawa.
