The Tory Member of Parliament for the Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo is raising the alarm over the federal budget tabled yesterday.
Cathy McLeod says the budget tables an irresponsible fiscal plan spending billions with the feds continuing to rack up debt.
“What we have is $41-billion in new spending,” she said. “Certainly from my perspective it is a pre-election goodie budget and it is meant to distract from what was done yesterday morning in terms of the Justice Committee and the rule of law.”
“It is quite disturbing.”
McLeod says with a forecast of $36-billion just to service the debt interest alone by 2024, it is good money being thrown away that should be invested in Canadians.
She says even with the $1.8 billion for seniors, the devil is in the details and is not the affordability fix many seniors were hoping for.
