The Blazers had an emotional week with Tuesday’s tiebreaker victory over Kelowna, but they couldn’t follow it up in the first-round series opener in Victoria against the Royals.
Victoria led 1-0 after the 1st, 3-0 after the 2nd and then scored an empty-netter for the 4-0 win. Dylan Garand drew the start in goal, he was good making 34 saves.
Griffen Outhouse posted a 28-save shutout. The Blazers were 0/2 on the powerplay, the Royals were 0/3.
The announced attendance was 4,103, in a building that seats just over 7,000.
Victoria will host game two tomorrow night, 7:05 p.m. at the Sandman Centre. Radio NL has our Kamloops Insurance pre-game show at 6:30 p.m. with Jon Keen.
The Blazers host game three and four next week Tuesday and Wednesday at the Sandman Centre.
