The MLA for Kamloops North is not buying what the Registrar of Land Titles is selling.
While the registrar says his office has authority to make the decision to remove the land title records from Kamloops to Victoria Peter Milobar disagrees.
“I am glad to see council will next week will be considering sending a letter as well. The land titles don’t have to like it. They don’t have to answer if they don’t want to answer. This is not just about the jobs it is also about this office services a quarter of the geographical area of this province. This change has been with absolutely zero thought and zero consultation with anyone.”
But the question remains can anything be done?
“There absolutely has to be. This is bureaucracy run amok. The Land Title Commission is not a law unto themselves. They don’t just get to unilaterally make these types of decisions. Frankly they made this decision with scant information to the public. If it was such a justifiable move one would have hoped they would have been much more forthright about this.”
The two Kamloops MLAs held a meeting Friday morning with a number of people concerned about the land titles records issue.
