There were no game 6 heroics this season for the Kamloops Blazers.
They were beaten decisively by the Victoria Royals – 4-1 the final score, as the Royals took the series 4-2 in six games.
It brought an end to an improbable late season rally from the Blazers.
Their season looked all but dead about a month ago but they forced their way into a first round meeting with Victoria, after winner a tiebreaker win over the Kelowna Rockets two weeks ago.
Goals from Brandon Cutler (2), Ralph Jarratt, and Carson Miller put the Royals up 4-0 through the first 40 minutes of play.
Orrin Centazzo gave the sellout 5,876 crowd something to cheer about at 14:18 of the third period to end Griffen Outhouse’s shutout bid.
Shots were 35-23 in favour of the Blazers as Dylan Garand, who started the game, was credited with the loss allowing four goals on 13 shots.
Dylan Ferguson came on in relief in the third period and stopped all 10 shots he faced in his final WHL game of his career.
He was named third star in the building, along with fellow graduating players Jeff Faith, and captain Jermaine Loewen, who was named first star.
Loewen (3rd round, 48th overall) & Ferguson (8th round, 168th overall) have both been with the organization since they were drafted back in 2013.
Game 6 was delayed twice by broken glass – once with 15:46 remaining in the first period, and again with 9:47 left in the second period.
