The Chief of Neskonlith First Nations says she is still waiting to hear from the Registrar of Land Titles on the issue of removing land title records from Kamloops.
On Friday Forests minister Doug Donaldson said staff had reached out to the Land Titles Authority to ensure consultations with First Nations would be done in removing land title records.
Chief Judy Wilson says her phone has yet to ring.
“I haven’t heard a response back from the province,” she said. “I haven’t heard a response from the BC Land Titles Office either.”
Wilson says it is her position the land title records should stay in Kamloops, period.
“We actually need to have the support of the city, residents, and any of the historical societies, and any of the other other organizations to call for the halt of that plan to relocate those records to Victoria,” she added.
Wilson pointed out that situation has “escalated to a high level.”
