
UPDATE –
According to the BC Wildfire Service map, both fires burning near the Kamloops and Merritt areas have been extinguished.
The fires – last reported at 0.01 ha are no longer listed on the active wildfires map.
One was on the north edge of Nicola Lake near Merritt, while the other was west of Westwold, north of Douglas Lake Road is still listed as active.
Still no word on a cause for either fire.

However, the 0.01 hectare wildfire near Westwold, north of Douglas Lake Road is still listed as active.
There’s no word on a cause for either fire at this moment.
ORIGINAL –
Two new wildfires were discovered in the Kamloops area, south and south east of the city.
They were both discovered yesterday, and they are fairly small in size at 0.01 hectares each.
One fire is at the north edge of Nicola Lake near Merritt, while the other is west of Westwold, north of Douglas Lake Road.
So far there’s no word on a cause for either fire.
These two fires come days after two others fires popped up east of Kamloops in the Chase area.
Both of those are suspected to be human caused, but they are now under control.
