The Mustard Seed in downtown Kamloops has began a meal-sponsorship programs with local businesses.
The non-profit’s managing director Diane Down says more meals being sponsored means more money can be put into adding services.
“We just wanted to give an opportunity for organizations and companies to bring their team together and sponsor a meal. The meal that we provide here every single day is kind fo the pathway or the bridge to get to noow people’s stories, and that’s we know we can serve them,” Down says.
“If they need housing, if they need ID, if they need their taxes done, if they need to get on social assistance, the meal is the easy way to create a friendly environment so we can hear people’s stories so we can start providing them relevant services.”
Down says the Mustard Seed serves meals to 100 people per day on average. Anyone looking to sponsor a meal at the Mustard Seed is asked to contact 250.682.6544 or volunteer@theseed.ca
