The fire at Agate Creek has been extinguished.
UPDATE –
The fire east of Nicola Lake at Douglas Lake Road has been extinguished.
It’s no longer listed on the active wildfires page of the BC Wildfire Service.
However, the fire at Agate Creek is still listed as burning as of 7:00 a.m. on April 8.
It’s still at 0.01 hectares.
ORIGINAL –
Two new wildfires are burning in the Meritt and Lytton area since yesterday,April 4.
The larger one is east of Nicola Lake at Douglas Lake Road, burning at 2.7 hectares.
It’s listed as a human caused fire by the BC Wildfire Service.
A second smaller fire at Agate Creek, burning at 0.01 hectares.
No official cause on that fire at this time.
Provincial Fire Information Officer Ryan Turcotte previously told NL it’s safe to assume the vast majority of fires right now are person caused.
