The Kamloops-Thompson School District says it nearly has a full picture for repairs needed at the Sagebrush Theatre.
Director of facilities Art McDonald says an engineering plan to fix the theatre’s roof should be ready soon, and then the school district will have an idea how much the repairs will cost.
“We’re getting close, hopefully within the next week or two we should have something that is a final design to fix the problem. What will happen is when I have the final information, I’ll be sending a letter to the secretary treasurer which he will pass on to the school board.”
The theatre is co-owned by the city and school district and has been closed since Feb. 15, when a crack was found in a roof truss in the building.
McDonald says the earliest it would re-open would be September.
“It might seem like a long time, but it’s a complicated structure with the age, and the design, tiered seating and those kind of things. It’s a complicated structure but we are making progress.”
