Kamloops RCMP are looking for a suspect and his vehicle after a weekend robbery at a jewelry store followed by a parking lot hit-and-run.
Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says on Saturday, a man stole more than $4,000 worth of jewelry from the Michael Hill store in Aberdeen Mall, before fleeing the area in a black SUV parked outside.
Later that day about 10 p.m., a man asked to rent a room at the Days Inn Motel, but was turned away because there were no rooms available.
“The male left the lobby, got into his vehicle and backed out of his parking space at a high rate of speed – striking a woman who was standing in the parking lot,” added Shelkie, saying the woman was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
Police describe the suspect as a Caucasian man in his 30’s, who is 5’10” tall with a medium build.
“Surveillance video from both the mall and the hotel show the same vehicle was used in both the robbery and the hit and run,” said Shelkie.
The SUV is described as having tinted rear windows, large, black after-market rims and a white front bumper with no front license plate.
Anyone with information is asked to reach out to RCMP or CrimeStoppers.
