If you’re frustrated by the skyrocketing price of gas, you might be more frustrated to know that price could be lower.
There’s no question the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion is a contentious issue.
Dan McTeague of gasbuddy.com explains while the new line would be for getting crude oil to the coast, expanding the one that’s already there is what would save you money.
“The existing line that we currently use, that sends you the gasoline, all the gasoline you need, that line would be expanded by about twenty five percent. And in that you’d be able to bring down more gasoline and of course bring cheaper prices from Edmonton as far as Vancouver.”
McTeague points out the wholesale price in Edmonton is 80 cents per litre while in Vancouver it’s a dollar and even with the cost of moving it figured in, we would save at least 16 cents per litre right off the top.
He added if crude was getting to the coast, our dollar would come up to be more in line with the United States.
