The MLA for Kamloops South wants to know what happened to consultation as the process begins to remove land title records from Kamloops.
Todd Stone says he has reached out to Kamloops area First Nations, the city, and the regional district to see if anyone from the province has been in touch.
“None of them have spoken to the Land Titles Survey Authority folks or Minister Donaldson. This entire issue has become a farce. We had the Premier who made very clear he would have a conversation with Minister Donaldson when he got back to Victoria and make sure that quote unquote proper consultation is taking place. Well while Premier Horgan was making that comment the Land Title and Survey Authority was in the process of boxing up those historic documents and beginning to ship them out.”
Stone says you can’t have it both ways the province is either going to consult or it is not.
“It would appear that Donaldson, Horgan, and the NDP want folks to believe they are committed to consultation but it certainly does not seem to apply to this particular situation.”
He says the Land Titles Authority seems to be daring anyone to try and stop them as they ignore the duty to consult.
