After announcement years in the making for Valleyview Secondary, the Kamloops -Thompson School District will still be bending the ear of province for funding.
Board chair Kathleen Karpuk says even with Friday’s major news, there is still a big need for capital spending on Kamloops schools.
“We do know that we still have pressures in areas such as Pineview Valley,” said said.
“We have pressures in the Westmount area, Sun Peaks is definitely a growing community, so those are definitely three of our top priorities.”
The province on Friday announced a $34.5 million expansion to help nearly double the current size of Valleyview Secondary.
“We’ll be going through a process later this spring,” Karpuk added.
“We’ll be talking to the city of Kamloops and checking to make sure where growth patterns are and then we’ll use that to formulate a new plan going forward.”
Karpuk says SD73 is one of the fastest growing districts in the province and that is reflected in their capital plan.
