The City of Kamloops is still waiting to hear any consultations over the removal of land title records from the city.
Mayor Ken Christian says so far there has been no movement to inform the community about the removal of land title records and council has now fired off several letters.
“We wrote to Minister Donaldson, we wrote to the CEO, as well we wrote to Chief Rosanne Casimir at Tk’emlúps te Secwepemc just to advise them of our concern and seek a meeting to have an opportunity to be consulted over what ever is happening over there. I have heard rumours back and forth that it is copies being moved, and it is real documents that are being moved, and half of them are being moved and I don’t know what is going on quite frankly.”
Christian says he would think there would be at least a courtesy offer to meet with the community.
“What my primary concern is in and around jobs especially those in the private sector that work around the titles office.”
That said he is ruling out the city backing efforts from Whispering Pines First Nation to seek a cease and desist order saying that is not something taxpayer money should fund.
